My wife and I recently signed contract to purchase a new construction townhouse in Aldie, VA. This house is a pre-spec so drywall was already up and most everything in the home was completed. We only had 3 weeks between signing contract and settlement so making sure that everything in the home was functioning properly was a priority. Our realtor recommended Jiri for our home inspection so we called him and he rearranged his schedule just to fit us in due to the short time available. Jiri arrived early and got to work taking pictures of the home’s exterior even before I had a chance to introduce myself! He took the time to walk me through his entire inspection even though I am sure I slowed him down. Jiri found multiple little things in his inspection that I am sure would have been "swept under the rug" by the builder if he had not brought them to my attention. All in all with me continually asking questions, it took him approximately 2 hours to inspect a 3 floor townhouse. The problem was that we had a pre-settlement demonstration scheduled with the builder later that afternoon and I was worried that I would not remember to bring everything to the builder’s attention. No more than one hour after Jiri left, I received and email on my phone that contained the entire 42 page report with pictures and descriptions of all the items that needed attention. I feel that he went well above and beyond what most inspectors would have done just to give me peace of mind. The other fantastic thing that I can say about Jiri is the technology that he uses. In-depth software on his smartphone and computer allow him to show me his report in near real time. He has some of the best equipment and tools at his disposal that I have ever seen. Everything down to his shoe covers screamed "professional"! Jiri also provides a free service where he takes pictures of all the appliances in the home and checks them against a national database of recalls to ensure that everything in your home is safe and up to date. Not to mention giving you a listing of model numbers and serial numbers so you don't have to spend hours looking for them if they ever need service. Jiri is the consummate professional and we will be hiring him to come back after 11 months to conduct another inspection before our initial warranty runs up on the house! Jiri is an outstanding professional who we have used three different times. Our first inspection went flawlessly and we ultimately ended up purchasing our first home. Our family grew and we are looking for our second home. We put offers in on two properties and Jiri's inspections found mold at both properties and high radon levels at the second property. Jiri's work prevented us from making huge mistakes in purchasing these properties and we anticipate using him as we continue our search for a new home. Also of note. Unlike some other inspectors Jiri is available via e-mail and phone to answer questions and is always happy to provide additional advice and information on request. Jiri also makes a point of including you during the home inspection walking room by room with you and showing you what he is seeing and explaining why it is or is not significant.
